If you’re looking for a gift for a bookworm, Lemuria Books should be on the list of places to visit. Its unique and eclectic decor highlights the huge selection of books that are stored everywhere. The store is divided into a series of rooms and every nook and cranny is populated with books of all descriptions and genres.
One of their rooms is dedicated to US first-edition books, and they feature regular book signings by noted authors. The staff are extremely knowledgeable, and can rapidly find any book you’re looking for. If they don’t have a particular book in stock, they will try and source it for you. Fondren Art Gallery
Fondren’s is an excellent gallery and art studio. It was founded by noted local artist Richard McKey over twenty years ago. Originally the galley was intended to make and sell his artwork, but it quickly expanded to include works by other local, national, and international artists. The gallery specializes in paintings, but they also have a limited number of sculptures, musical instruments, and posters.
Fondren Art Gallery can frame paintings for you or restore and reframe them. They also offer art classes regularly. Fondren is located at 3242 N State Street.
